Though everyone knows that regular intake of water keeps the body fit, consuming fixed amount of plain water can be tiresome. That’s where detox water comes in.
Detox water, i.e. water infused with different natural ingredients, is one of the best ways to boost the natural immunity of your system. Plus, it makes for the perfect drink to sip through the day and maintain your daily water intake level.
Here are 8 easy-to-make detox drinks that everyone should try, at lease once:
1. Apple Cinnamon Detox Water
Add a slice of apple, preferably thinly sliced and a cinnamon stick in water and refrigerate it for some time, approximately an hour, before consuming. Powdered cinnamon may clog the water so cinnamon sticks work better.
Cinnamon traditionally helps boost metabolism, while apples have nutrients that help decrease the risk of heart diseases and diabetes.
2. Strawberry, Mint and Watermelon Detox Water
For this drink, you first need to cut the watermelon in cubes and slightly mash them and slice the strawberries in half. Then add approximately 4 small cups of slightly mashed watermelon cubes, one small cup or half a pint of sliced strawberries and six sprigs of fresh mint to water.
Strawberries are rich in anti-oxidants and watermelon helps lower blood pressure. Plus, this is one of the yummiest detox waters available.
3. Cucumber Detox Water
This classic detox water is actually the easiest to make, and thus consumed most often. Cut a cucumber into half inch slices and add it to water. Refrigerate before consuming.
The subtle taste of the detox water makes for a refreshing drink. Additionally, cucumber is a storehouse of powerful vitamins. You can add lemon and mint leaves to the mixture as well, especially as lemon helps with weight loss.
4. Lemon, Mint and Strawberry Detox Water
This detox water makes for one yummy drink, and actually looks amazing too. This is the one you would want to flaunt on your Instagram handle!
Cut your strawberries into quarters and add 15 quartered strawberries with one thinly sliced lemon into the water. Add 5 to 6 sprigs of mint leaves. You can replace mint with basil leaves as well.
5.Lemon Ginger Detox Water
This is a perfect drink to start your mornings with. Squeeze two lemons to prepare the lemon juice. Add this to two cups of boiling hot water along with grated ginger. Use only half a knob of fresh ginger.
The health benefits of lemon are well-known. What people don’t always realize is that ginger helps with both, pain relief and detoxification. You can add honey to the mixture to help with the taste.
6.Detox Iced Green Tea
Make a cup of hot green tea by adding a bag of green tea into boiling water. Let the green tea chill for 5 minutes. As your green tea is cooling down, slice two strawberries, a lemon and a cucumber.
Add the two sliced strawberries with sliced lemon and two slices of cucumber in the tea. Add a teaspoon of honey or stevia in the mix and enjoy the tea. If the tea still feels warm to taste, you can add ice. In case strawberries are not available, you can use only lemon and cucumber as well.
It is not advisable to consume too many cups of green tea in a day. And that is why detox iced green tea makes for the perfect alternative.
7. Peach Mint Detox Water
This drink has amazing cooling effects, thanks to the addition of cooling mint in water. However, you will need to freeze the peaches to make this drink.
Add 10 slices of frozen peaches and a handful of mint leaves in the water and cool the mixture further by refrigerating it before consuming.
8. Orange Lemon Cucumber Detox Water
This is truly a detox drink as it helps cleanse the liver due to the presence of Vitamin C rich oranges and lemons. Orange and lemon also help in flushing out toxins from the body, while cucumber helps with bloating. For a cooling effect you can add mint leaves too, and mint also aids digestion. Slice two oranges, one lemon and a cucumber and add them to a pitcher with a handful of mint leaves.
